Testing the Waters

This blog explores how water reflects symbolic and concrete ideas.  Water provides a channel for connecting ideas to material reality, thereby fostering considerations of embodied ideas.

I will begin with a multi-part investigation of fountains.  This seems fitting as the etymology of fountain, font, means source.  Fountains represent sources and/or centers of life, power, communal spaces, control, spectacle, leisure, health, purity, cleansing, and allegories throughout history.  They also provide access to life giving water.
